Day eighty-two
March 2007's [info]mutantx_fanart challenge is Mutant X: Crossover! Yep, that's right, it's mix 'n' match fandom time! I've been working on this submission for the last month or so (hence the reason it's so late!) because it's a big one. After all, such a wonderfully stimulating prompt deserves nothing less! So without further delay, allow me to present Mutant X's Brennan Mulwray and Jesse Kilmartin, Heroes' Nathan and Peter Petrelli and Supernatural's Dean and Sam Winchester in "Whose Side Are You On?"

This drawing is based on original artwork by comic book artists Jim Cheung and Mark Morales, with the vaguest hint of Carlos Pacheco and Cam Smith. Artwork title shamelessly stolen from Marvel Comic's recent superhero crossover event "Civil War". In case you hadn't noticed.

The original full-size A4 version of this artwork is available by email upon request

Very cool picture, love the Winchesters and Petrelli's. I don't watch Mutant X though

Thanks dude! Glad you liked. Mutant X probably isn't quite the same calibre as the other two shows but I love it all the same: a true guilty pleasure. And the hunks certainly help! :D

I think I love you...so so much. This is...I can't even find words. I love your crossovers. They fit so well together, too. ♥

Yay, more love hearts! Thanks Tori. :D I knew you'd like this one! There aren't that many of us who ♥ all three shows like we do! So what better way to share that love than squish 'em all together? *squishes* ;)

Thanks Baby! Yeah it was great to be able to squeeze all those hotties into one artwork. I thought about whether I should include any of the Roswell spunks as well but then thought better of it: we wouldn't want a total brain overload from all that studliness! ;)

No, of course not. Wouldn't want a heart-attack either. ;)

So, do you work on multiple drawings at once, or do you do one thing at a time? I always have numerous drawings and stories going at once. I wish I could finish some stuff.

I usually have a few pots bubbling away on the stove at any one time. However, since about mid-2006 I've tried to keep this number to a minimum and do my very best to finish an artwork shortly after I've started it (i.e. within a few days or weeks). That doesn't mean I won't work on more than one thing within the same period of time, just that I try to see each one through to the end. I gotta say, it's been a pretty successful policy: I've completed a slew of art as a result and I'm pretty happy with the majority of them. But there are a few that just didn't work and I got stuck haha. I have a massive amount of unfinished artwork (mostly pencils) from when I first started doing this slash stuff, dating from 2005 and the start of '06. Every now and then I re-visit one and finish it off! :) How many unfinished drawings have you got lying around the place at the moment, Baby?

Um. *hides*

Ha. Yeah, I'm really bad about starting projects and never finishing them. It's like I get new ideas and get excited about them and lose steam on the old ones or something. I only have a couple of drawings I've started and haven't finished, but I've got a ton of fic that's unfinished. I so badly want to finish it, but my muse seems to be on extended holiday.

I hear ya, babe. I'm pretty sure the situation you describe is a common predicament for a lot of our fellow fan artists, myself included. Whilst I've managed to keep track of a lot of my drawings, my fics are another story entirely! Like you, I have a lot started, but very few finished. I'm much more interested in conceiving and conceptualising a plot than actually converting it into text, partly due to the fact that I'm rarely skilled enough to write it the way I want it to be written. I should practice more I know but drawing takes precedence at the moment - through it I achieve more tangible results more quickly. Though, let's not get me started on some of the comic-esque projects I have in mind (i.e. art projects involving more than one pic) - most of those are still stuck in 'pre-production' limbo lol. Good luck with finishing more of your fics soon, Baby - I hope your muse runs out of spending money and is forced to return home and get back to his real job haha.

Yeah, you're probably right. Us creative type are really scattered sometimes. :P Hee. Pre-production limbo. That's a very good description of it!!! Thanks!! I hope muse runs out of money too. It's like an out-of-control step-child. *spanks*

:D

Haha. If that won't get your muses' butt back in line, you should just cancel his credit card. ;)

I totally suck because I meant to comment on this FOREVER ago! This rocks so hardcore, talk about a total fantasy-come-true if this could only happen! Come on, tv, give me some crossover action! I guess, until then, I'm just going to have to rely on you. :D

Sounds alright to me, Lucy! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment - better late than never! ;) Seeing a scene like this on our TV screens would be like a wish come true for me as well (plus a few other people out there I'm sure!). In its absence, that's what fan art and fan fic is for! Fandom crossovers can be a lot of fun and these three seem to mix pretty nicely together. I find that Supernatural tends to go well with a lot of stuff - it must be the almost picaresque, weekly paranormal adventure format of the show. I see from one of the tabs over at your fic journal that you've crossed the Winchesters with The Forsaken? That thought had crossed my mind before too I must admit! I'm eager to draw something along those lines but first up I'm gonna give your story a read - for inspiration of course! :)

I've not watched Mutant X either, but I like how you incorporated them all together.
